I am new to the area. I would really appreciate if you could list the parks in the area that you think my kids will enjoy (they are ages 2 and 4). Anything in Torrance, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, or Palos Verdes that you recommend? Thanks!

This park is not in the South Bay, but it's a fantastic place that's worth checking out. It's called Aiden's Place and it's located in Westwood at 1350 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90024. It has a wide range of activities: sand play, water play, swings, and structures. What's so wonderful about it is the expansive padded play area (designed for children with disabilities) which is very toddler friendly!

We meet at parks in the South Bay in the morning and afternoon (separate classes) I bring my guitar, basket of books and art. It's open for kids 2 to 6 years old. I sent my daughter to South Bay Adult School and would highly recommend it!  They have different locations to choose from in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach.  I found it to be the most reasonably priced pre-school in the area.  We started with South Bay Adult School taking a mommy and me class (I believe they call them parenting classes) when my daughter was just 2 months old.  I was very impressed with the program and we stayed in it until my daughter entered kindergarten.  The teachers there are very qualified, if not over-qualified; I believe many of them have Masters Degrees.  Parents help out in the classroom so there is a very high adult to child ratio.  The tuition is subsidized by the State of California so, again, it is reasonably priced.  Definitely look into it and let me know what you think!  Readers, let us know if you have a pre-school you would like to recommend!

    Hi,
My name is Wanda and I wanted to know if you might know of some homebase business for moms. I am so tired of the same old things for example: health products, foods and air filters or what ever those things are. I am looking for something new. I was thinking you might know of somethings that might be coming out soon. I want to work from home not because of kids, but because I have a condition called vertigo and its been with me for over 30 years, so its hard for me to work at a regular job and yet I'm not willing to give up on my dreams either. Well thank you for your help.

    Best Wishes,
    Wanda

      Hi Wanda,
I know from personal experience that finding legitimate work-at-home opportunities is extremely tough!  The internet is overflowing with work-from-home scams, so please use caution.  Legitimate employers do not ask for up front fees so that is one way of weeding out the bad guys.  Anything that seems suspicious probably is.  Usually the best work at home jobs start out at an office and  once you've proven yourself to your employer you may ask to work from home.  Although difficult to find, I have heard that some call centers   offer work from home.  I recently noticed that United Concordia insurance company was looking for at-home call takers.  VIPDesk.com has been mentioned to me several times as a legitimate at home employer.  Unfortunately, that is the best I can do for you at the moment.  Readers-Please help!  If you know of any legitimate work at home opportunities please let us know!  Also, Wanda, please write back and let us know if any of the suggestions turn out to be helpful to you.
      Sincerely, South Bay Mom

      hi Wanda,
I joined a company named CookieLee, It is something that I do from home and online. I have a large network of people online so i just email my link to them and offer them online catalog shows. They email my link to their friends and I get orders online, I process them thru the company online and they deliver the products to my door! Also, I promote my business wherever I go such as the grocery store, church, the vet, starbucks, restaurants, appointments,
any place with people. Im a walking talking advertisement, lol! I carry a purse with products and catalogs and people actually approach me!The company offers 50% commission. A single mom started the business so it is geard just for women like us who want to work at home. I do fundraising which enables me to make larger orders with little effort and it helps others as well. I have been doing this about a year and my daughter does it as well. Its a great opportunity to be self employed and work from home. The company offers discounted heath coverage, you have the opportunity to earn free vacations and even the leasing of a car paid for by CookieLee! Check out my website at CookieLee.biz/susan. If your interested email me for more info.

      Best Regards,

      Hi Lety,
You and your friend should look into South Bay Adult School at:  http://www.southbayadult.org/ .  Their parenting classes are both fun and educational.  As your baby grows they will begin to interact with the other children in the class.  The tuition is very reasonable as it is subsidized by the State of California.  Fall classes begin the week of September 8th.
